BEACH Symphony No. 2 "Gaelic"

The final concert of the season, Passage, closes our symphonic journey with the high school and collegiate division winners from WSO’s Young Artist Competition in their symphony rite of passage, performing their concertos with the orchestra. The Young Artist Competition fosters young talent and celebrates our rich musical landscape in Wyoming. As we end the season, we are excited to perform Amy Beach’s Symphony No. 2, “Gaelic,” the first symphony composed and published by a female American composer. Gaelic begins with a low, chromatic rumble that builds into the romantic style of this symphony. Gaelic themes are introduced and the melodies become slow in nature before ending on a brisk and thematic note
