Conductor Christopher Dragon will kick off the MSO’s Classics Series with a program celebrating the American Sound. The concert will open with Florence Price’s Concert Overture No. 2, then pianist Gabriela Martinez returns to Modesto with Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue. The MSO will end the program with Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9, “From the New World”, which draws inspiration from American stories and songs, especially the spiritual style of Black Americans.
