VIVALDI Concerto for Two Cellos in G minor, RV 531

RIMSKY-KORSAKOV Scheherazade, Op. 35 (arr Rotar)

The Festival’s final concert relives the story of One Thousand and One Nights in this chamber version of Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade. A story about a storyteller, this exotic tale of love, intrigue and adventure from the Arabian Nights is guaranteed to capture the imagination as it conjures up colourful and evocative images of this ancient folk tale. Vivaldi’s glorious double cello concerto sees Southern Cross Soloists’ cellist Blair Harris team up with leading US/NZ cello soloist James Tennant from the NZ Chamber Soloists as we continue to explore chamber concertos - this time by the father of the virtuoso concerto, Antonio Vivaldi
